What a blast to be in the DSG running group!
Great team leader (Tuan is great); wonderful people to run with.
Glad Tho and George told me to join.
Training was superb! Couldn't have completed the 2009 Marine Marathon w/o the training and the wkly advices/emails.
Looking forward to next year season.
Tuan,
My name is Vincent and I will be joining the crew on this coming Saturday for your 10 mile run thru DC back to the Pentagon. I will be ready for the run BIG RUN!
I arrived Saturday Morning and realized that I knew no one... that I had been out for three weeks with a knee injury and there was no way I had the intestinal fortitude to do it on my own. I look around and everyone looked like elite runners and I knew I was in trouble... I asked someone what their time was and they told me slow so I quickly stuck to them... they began telling me about short cuts and I knew I had picked the right group so we are off.. my Knee started hurting before we left the Pentagon but I wanst going to punk out like that so I kept going... byt the time we reached the cemetary I didnt feel the pain anymore... good. Now we are running and the conversation was great and it really helped to keep me going!!! By the time we reached the Mall I had never been so happy to see a Hoochie Mama before in my life.
Remember those short cuts I mentioned? well I almost took a short one at Haines Point when I saw this elderly couple walking but something said, "SUCK IT UP" I can't believe they said that too me...
So I didnt take the short cut.... and when I got near the statue all I could think about was what a nice photo I can take of that statue...
By the time we made it out of the park I began wondering those shortcuts and they never took them.
14 Miles is my longest so far and my toes feel like they are balled up in my shoes... and they still feel that way.. I keep looking down at them and they are straight but they feel mangled.
But I tell you, I had a blast... this reminded me of the DCFit of old. I would have done pancakes with a few but the shower and bed were screaming out to me. I would like to thank Andy and Allison (WOW I remembered thier names) I honestly couldnt have done that without you two.
For anyone going to VA Beach - GOOD LUCK !!! All I can think about is doing that old lipton splash right into the water after the race.
Tuan nice site and I love the emails... you have a great sense of humor. I forward them to my friends just for the laughs.. but seriously I am a Marylander and I went with the parent that moved out to Dunn Loring after the divorce. We dont have the bond that we did at the pentagon last year... I miss that. I actually came by to see if anyone was running Philly half and or VA Beach half. (I am going for the Beach to Bell medal ) and was in need of a roommate to split the cost. Also I hope you guys get T-Shirts so the Divorce children can recognize our siblings when we are at these races... just a thought. I'll be wearing my DC Fit shirt for the runs... the one I got this year actually fits
